We have found that the sound of our flamenco guitars is improved by acupuncture.

HaHa! Really this is the first step in doing a pearl segment binding to match the rosette.

This was inspired by an old guitar that I had in the shop for restoration awhile ago.

Pickup HB90

A friend needs a nice single coil pickup that he can fit in a humbucker rout. Here's how I did it. Actually there exits this, but I wanted to do it myself. First I trimmed off the bottom of a P90 bobbin, Made it about 3\32 wider, shortened it to HB size, then glued a new back plate of hardwood. Using the top holes of the bobbin as a guide, re-drilled for the screws. I used the bottom spacer to line up the holes for the HB frame. Then I wound the bobbin with 0.06mm wire(about 42 gauge. Got it up to about 7.6K about the same as a Tele bridge PU.After winding, I assembled the bobbin, magnets and screws,cut down a soapbar cover to fit inside the open top cover.

Can't leave anyone hanging. Luis has finished his jazz bass. Hard to believe that it was all made in our shop.. Carlos doing a tele, and more. Very tired, I spend alot of hours here.

More Stuff

Mickey is adicted to archtops. Coming along a Es 175. Quilted maple body, spruce top. Have good feelings about this one, but have to admit that these projects are a little advanced for first time builders. Also Claudio with his tele. Sergi building a flamenca, and more. Lot's of projects these days.Manu has finished his LP double cut. I love this guitar. I'm going to copy the form for other students.So many great guitars!!!!

Back Again

Been soooo busy, not even time to get to blog. More photos of what's been happening.Dani finished his bass. Very great instrument. 30" scale fretless. Sounds super bass, and has that feel that we all like. P/Ups made in the shop. He's happy, but I wish he left it here for awhile for me to enjoy. Albertos' 12 string moving along, an SG style by Enric, and the strat? by Javi. for his electric.

Very Busy

Sorry to let things go so long with no new posting. Have some new students, and preparing things has been using all my time.Here's a few photos, Dan with his gold Top LP style, First time painting this finish. Albert with a very special 7 string, and the J-200 style of Dani is coming along very nicely . Another Hofner neck reset. this joint is very diferent then the other Hofners I've done lately. You can compare it with the guitar photos of a few months ago. P:S: Yes this was a bitch to remove. You can see the two holes(one in the joint, the other came out in the bottom of the joint) where I injected steam. Same method as a gibson re-set. Not Fun!!
